How I Made My First $1,000 Online as a Vet
Dec 05, 2025
(And What I’d Do Differently If I Were Starting Today)
Let’s get honest for a moment.
If you’re a vet who’s craving more freedom, less burnout, and dreaming of building something online, you’re not alone. I’ve been there. And I want to share what I wish I knew before I made my first $1,000 online.
Yes, I did make that money.
But the truth is: I made it the hard way.
π What I did to get started…
When I first stepped into the online business world, I thought I had to do what all the “experts” said:
“Create a course. Build a funnel. Launch like a pro.”
So that’s what I did.
I built a full-blown online course, while still working, still managing life, and honestly, running on fumes.

Did it eventually sell?
Yes. But not in the beginning and not as many as i hoped.
Yes. But not in the beginning and not as many as i hoped.
Was it the best way to start?
Honestly… no.
What I’d do differently if I were starting today:
If I could go back and give past-Meg some advice, it would be this:
Start smaller. Test your idea first. Keep it simple.
Here’s how I’d get to my first $1,000 faster and with way less stress:
β
Step 1: Create a simple PDF (not a course)
Instead of a 15-module course, I’d make a quick, helpful resource, like:
- A checklist
- A guide
- A mini how-to
- Or even better: a vet-specific PLR product I could brand and sell as my own
It’s faster, easier to promote, and a great way to test if people actually want what I’m offering.
β Step 2: Talk about it in the spaces you already show up
You don’t need a big audience.
You just need to show up consistently and talk about what you’ve created, inside FB groups, your Instagram, even 1:1 convos.
Your first few sales will likely come from people already in your world.
β Step 3: Collaborate with other online vets
This was a game-changer for me.
Once I started partnering with other vets online and tapping into their communities, my visibility grew, without needing a big audience of my own.
Collaboration > isolation. Always.
What I want you to remember:
You don’t need:
β A full-blown course to start
β Thousands of followers
β A complicated strategy
You need:
β A clear offer that solves a problem
β A simple way to deliver it
β A willingness to start before you feel “ready”
β And a little courage to put it out there
