Will this even work for someone like me?”

Jan 01, 2026
There’s one question I hear from vet professionals more than almost anything else when they start thinking about doing something online:

“Will this even work for someone like me?”

And every time I hear it, I’m taken straight back to the early days of my own journey, sitting with the exact same doubt.

It wasn’t that I didn’t believe online businesses worked.
I could see they did.
There were people everywhere doing it, creating courses, building communities, offering services, sharing what they knew.

What I struggled to believe was that it could work for me.

I wasn’t the loudest voice.
I wasn’t the most confident.
I wasn’t the type of person who wanted to show my whole life on social media.
I didn’t feel particularly “entrepreneurial.”
And I definitely wasn’t the kind of person who had everything figured out from day one.

I was just a vet who cared deeply, who had learned a lot the long way around, and who felt this quiet tug that there might be another way to use my skills.

And in the beginning, that didn’t feel like enough.

But here’s the part I wish someone had told me:

Online business isn’t reserved for a specific “type” of person.
It’s built by ordinary people who follow their strengths, their curiosity, and their lived experience.

The people who succeed aren’t the loudest.
They’re not the flashiest.
They’re not the ones with perfect clarity from the start.

They’re the ones who:
 • take small steps consistently
 • follow the ideas that feel meaningful
 • learn as they go
 • and build something that fits the life they already have

I didn’t begin with a big audience.
I didn’t have a polished idea.
I didn’t even know what I was doing half the time.

What I did have was a willingness to start, quietly, slowly, and in my own way.

And that turned out to be more than enough.

So if you’re asking yourself,
“Will this work for someone like me?”
I want you to know this:

You don’t need to become a different version of yourself to succeed online.
You don’t need to be louder, or more confident, or more “business-minded.”
You don’t need to transform your personality or pretend to be someone you’re not.

What you already have, your skills, your insight, your natural way of helping people,  is the foundation.

Your online business doesn’t need you to change.
It needs you to show up as you.

And if you can do that, even in the smallest way…
yes, this absolutely can work for someone like you.
